Americanoo

Why

Every Sunday, my padel group plays Americano. Partners rotate, points accumulate, and one unlucky person becomes The Scorekeeper, guarding a whiteboard while everyone asks, “Who am I playing next?”

I wanted that person back on court. Everyone should be able to see the next match, and the people finishing a game should be able to enter the score. The challenge was making it work for the group we actually had: different phones, a few watches, and friends who wouldn’t install an app just to join a game.

Americanoo brings those devices into the same live game. In October 2026, I also gave AI assistants a way in through MCP: setting up a schedule and updating scores could begin with a spoken or typed request. The point of every interface is the same: less time organizing the game, more time playing it.

How

  1. Set up the session in about 30 seconds: add players, courts and points, then share a QR code or link. Friends can follow in a browser without installing anything.
  2. Share the scorekeeping: give trusted players the organizer link so they can enter scores as matches finish. The schedule and leaderboard stay visible to everyone.
  3. Score from your wrist: use the crown on Apple Watch or Wear OS and save the result without reaching for a phone.
  4. Let an agent handle the setup: connect the free MCP server and ask for “an Americano for these 8 players on 2 courts.” It can create the game, return the links, enter scores you dictate and read the standings.

There are eight formats, including Americano, Mexicano, Beat the Box and Up & Down. Sit-outs are shared fairly: nobody sits out twice before everyone has sat out once. The phone apps keep working offline and sync changes when connectivity returns.

I introduced Americanoo in October 2026; the iOS app followed on October 20, alongside the web and Android options. It is free, with no ads and no required sign-up. The scorekeeper’s job still exists, but one person no longer has to spend the whole session doing it. 🎾
